Who is Paul? What is his brand?

Paul Ropp is a distinguished and familiar name around Bali. Established in 1978 nowadays the brand counts 10 free standing stores in Bali, 5 in Thailand, plus more than 30 hotel joint-venture.It is distributed also in over 30 countries worldwide. With a strong and very recognizable store look – thanks also to the innovative ‘shop in box’ concept, a complete pre fab installation for franchises- the brand is located in the main shopping areas and touristic destinations.

The creator and the beating heart behind the brand is Paul Ropp himself, eclectic artists and one of the main actors of the 60’s movement. Paul’s muse is Nature and the life she provides. So it comes as no surprise that Paul found part of his inspiration in the midst of the crazy, unpredictable yet deeply engulfing streets of Asia, India and Bali in particular. Paul saw the beauty in the people, the music and the dancing that surrounded him during the 70’s and walked away with a true vision to create clothes that are not only wearable but “magnificent heirloom treasures”. With vibrant designs filled with a multitude of bohemian and Indian inspired patterns and prints, Paul Ropp’s fabrics are created in all corners of India, from Northern villages in Varanasi to Western villages in Bengal and the Eastern villages in Tamilnadu in South. The production of these fabrics not only provides direct , or indirect employment to thousand of people in rural India, but also aids in the preservation of traditional techniques of intricate hand-loom weaving and embroidery. The garments are then intricately embroidered in Bali with the finest stitching, giving exquisite attention to detail for each piece. Paul took matters into his own hands when building his brand and also created a more sustainable fashion industry model. Not a scrap of fabric goes to waste in the factory. Every left over piece of material, string or bead is combined and transformed into unique accessories, jewellery, bags, belts, footwear and homewear. Each piece is a work of art, a treasure for collectors. Wearingone of Paul’s creations is like changing your mood, every item carries its own energy and character. Well being, attention to detail, hi standards of quality, all testifying to Paul Ropp’s passion. Passion for fabrics, passion for people, Passion for life.
